Abstract

3D’omics in a nutshell- Understanding the interplay between animals and microorganisms is essential to optimise animal production.- The capacity of conventional multi-omic approaches to unveil host-microbiota interactions is limited because they do not capture the spatial distribution of relevant elements.- 3D’omics will develop and implement a new technology that consists in the three-dimensional reconstruction of relevant biological and chemical elements in the animal intestine.- When coupled with cutting-edge animal performance analyses, our approach aspires to advance animal production assessments and the means to improve production to a new frontier.
