Fetal-mimetic therapy of osteoarthritis

The project aims to develop a fetal-mimetic therapy, comprised of a combination of perinatal MSC-derived EVs with pro-regenerative and/or immunomodulatory fetal protein factor(s), to promote cartilage and tendon regeneration and control inflammation in osteoarthritis and tendinopathy. To this end, the following objectives will be pursued • identify paracrine fetal factors that have superior bioactivity in assays of cartilage and tendon regeneration and immunomodulation as compared to perinatal human MSC-derived EVs• demonstrate that such fetal factor(s) in combination with human perinatal MSC-derived EVs show superior activity both in vitro and in vivo as compared to EVs alone
